Two NEW and exciting events have been added to our roster. The Kentucky Derby Party, May 1 at the Detroit Polo Club and the Colorado Relay, August 20 & 21. Both events are unique and top notch.
The Kentucky Derby Party -
Come join us for the inaugural Kentucky Derby Party at the Detroit Polo Club. The Derby party will have multiple tents with music, food, and all kinds of beverages. Grab a mint julep and relax with friends while viewing the event on one of our multiple HD TV's. This is Sharon's favorite sport. 3 Minutes or less and it's done.
The Colorado Relay - This is one you don't want to miss.
The 2010 Colorado Relay will be held on Friday, August 20th and finish on Saturday, August 21st. Awards ceremony will begin promptly at 12:00 noon on Saturday. 174 miles of PURE Colorado bliss. Gather your friends and get going. Only 150 teams will be able to participate. Why not be one of them?

BEAVER ISLAND MARATHON - The Beaver Island Boat Company has announced it's 2010 Marathon schedule and fees. Once again there will be a Saturday night sunset cruise leaving Beaver Island at 5:30 PM. BEAVER ISLAND MARATHON - Announced today by Fresh Air Aviation
Air fare pricing for the Marathon participants. For those participating in the race the current round trip airfare will be discounted by $15 and for each family member or friend that travels with them their round trip ticket will be discounted by $5. One way fares will be discounted by $7 and the family member or friend will receive $2 off.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! The 4th annual Ann Arbor Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is over for another great year. Over 1200 athletes registered this year. The official times are now available. Ann Arbor Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot - On line registration is now closed but you can still register on site today from 3 to 6 PM and tomorrow morning from 7 to 8 AM. Click here for more information about the race and site location.
If you are already registered - packets are organized by your last name. There will be stations for you to easily pick up your bib, goodie bag and shirt. NO LONG LINES.

Ann Arbor Turkey Trot - As a reminder, this year you will not be allowed to bring your four legged friends. The University of Michigan rec center director has requested that we do not bring any animals into the building. You are welcome to run with them but they would have to remain outside during the awards ceremony. Sorry about this.

It's hard to believe that we're only four weeks away from the 4th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Ann Arbor. Registrations are strong. We have athletes coming in from over 17 states.
New for 2009! ChronoTrack D-Chip timing by Race Services. Your time will start when you cross the mat at the start line. It's not a gun start this year. Another new part to the timing system is their instant race results posted on one of four monitors. No need to wait until someone prints the times. Also, your results will be on line at www.goodboyevents.com and www.raceservices.com within hours after the race for your family to see.
PHOTOS! Another new thing for 2009, we will have Kevin and Steve of Fast Photo Pro on site to take shots of the race. You may pre- register now to be automatically notified immediately when the photos are available for viewing. Check out their site for your photos after the race. Order your photos on line.
Remember again this year we will be holding a non-parishable food and good shoes and coat drive. Bring your food and clothing with you to registration/packet pick up. Please donate generously.

Beaver Island Marathon
The Inagural Beaver Island Marathon ended yesterday with a field of over 350 happy athletes. The weather couldn't have been better. Blue skies and smiling faces made the run spectacular. The Island residence were more than welcoming. The volunteers were the best. More than willing to lend a helping hand. We have so many people to thank for all of their support. Without them, this event would not have be so successful.

Beaver Island Marathon
Sign up for a massage after the race- Karen with East Wind Spa will be at the finish line to provide massages. She will have tables set up starting at 9AM. She will be taking appointments so sign up early. Rates will be posted on site. If you want to schedule a session at her salon, please call Karen at 231-448-2881.
More places to rent on the island. Yes, at this late date, we have places for you to stay on the island. Check out the event page for the latest homes or campsites. We're receiving calls every day from the residence of Beaver Island to let us know about their place(s).

Beaver Island Marathon
The Pre-Race Pasta dinner: If you did not sign up for the pre-race pasta dinner at the Holy Cross Church Hall, there's still room. This dinner is being presented by the Beaver Island Sports Boosters. Though they are not charging for this dinner, your donations are greatly appreciated. The dinner is not a part of your registration fees. PLEASE donate generously. The spaghetti is outstanding. Don't miss the opportunity to meet the other athletes and hear from our Race Directors, Ron and Jeff Suffolk.

Beaver Island Marathon
Transportation information: When arriving at the Boat Company office, please plan to drop off your passengers and luggage. Then pick up your parking pass to park your car at the Charlevoix Middle School or the another designated parking lot. There is a daily parking rate of $3.00 per night that needs to be paid when you get your parking pass. You will also get your boat pass at the same time for your round trip. We will have a table set up outside of the Beaver Island Boat Company office to assist the athletes with the parking passes and their boat tickets. No need to go inside if you are a Marathon or Half Marathon athlete. All others will purchase their tickets inside. A shuttle will be available to transport you from the Middle School to the office. Drivers only. The Middle School is less than a mile from the office if you want to walk/run. PLEASE refer to the Beaver Island Boat Company website for more information.
Sunset Cruise- Saturday Night
If you are planning to return to Charlevoix on the Saturday Night Sunset Cruise, please note that the boat leaves at 5:20 pm. You must check in at the Beaver Island Boat Company prior to the departure. On of our staff will be at the boat company to assist you with your return trip.

Each year Beaver Island holds a wonderful 5K event and a food festival in October. This years Bite of Beaver Island and Island Boodle 5K will be held October 3. Beaver Island Marathon
Packet Pick Up Time Change - Packet pick time on Friday has been changed to 1:30 to 5:30pm. You can now pick up your packet when you step off the boat on Friday. Saturday packet pick up will stay the same. 7:00 to 8:15 am.
Presently both boats leaving Friday, September 4 for Beaver Island are full plus both boats leaving on Sunday returning to Charlevoix are now full! If you are registered and told us you were traveling on 9/4 or leaving the island by boat on 9/6, you are set and the boat company is expecting you. If you are not registered and want to race on Beaver Island you still have 2 choices:
The 9/3 boat to Beaver Island has space and the marathon and half marathon has space. Come over on Thursday or earlier and run a marathon.
Fly to the island with Island Airways or Fresh Air Airlines.
The Saturday sunset cruise (5:20 pm) and the Monday boat has space for the return to Charlevoix. Only the Sunday boats returning to Charlevoix are full.
Looking for something to do when you're on the island for the Marathon. Don't miss the performance of the Beaver Tales Players.
"If we don't have it then you don't need it" that's the title song of a new play on Beaver Island called Beaver Tales. It's fashioned after the old island house parties when islanders would get together to tell stories, play music and have fun so if you ever wanted to really know what life is all about on Beaver Island...this play may explain it.
There are two more showings of Beaver Tales on September 4th and October 2nd. Please call the Beaver Island Community Center at 231-448-2022 for more information.
Reservations a must - very popular - sold out twice!!!! It was hinted today that there might be a Saturday, Sept 5th performance. Ask about it.

5K for K9's and Friends - 5K and 1M Kids fun run -
September 20, 2009 - 100% of the proceeds go to the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Part of your registration fee will be tax deductible. Good Boy Events will be donating our time and equipment for this race as our charity of choice for 2009. The inaugural event will take place at Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan. Beaver Island Marathon -
There are still rooms, houses, campsites and dorm spaces at Central Michigan University's Biological Center available on Beaver Island.
Getting to the Island: A great option is to fly over the morning of the race by taking one of the flights with either Fresh Air Aviation or Island Airways then the sunset cruise back to Charlevoix that evening. For more information contact the airlines directly.

Charlevoix Marathon - Athletes Packet Pick Up is today at Bridge Park 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Athlete meetings are at 5:00 at Registration and 7:00 p.m. at the Pasta Dinner. Charlevoix Marathon - Only 4 days left to register on line for the 3rd Annual Charlevoix Marathon. Registration closes at midnight EST. On site registration will be at Bridge Park from 3 - 7 pm on Friday and 5:30 to 6:30 am on Saturday for the Marathon and Half Marathon 6:30 - 7:30 am for the 10K and 5K.
Pasta Dinner- Due to the overwhelming response to the pasta dinner we are extending the hours. Dinner will be served from 4:30 - 7:30 or so on Friday. Don't miss this absolutely delicious meal. The meal is served by the women of the United Methodist Church. I'm sure you will show your appreciation by donating generously.
Timiing - Race Services will be at the finish line with their new timing system. There will be a tent with four monitors for you to check your times as you cross the finish lines. No more waiting for someone to print and post. Check out the pictures of their system on the event page.

All athletes registered by June 10 will receive a personalized bib. A great keepsake.

Beaver Island Marathon- Transportation to the island. No need to call for a reservation to Beaver Island. The Beaver Island Boat Company will have a list of all Marathon and Half Marathon athletes who qualify for the "free" transportation. You will have a seat. All others going to the island will be charged full fare. There's plenty of room on the boat. Just make sure you get there in plenty of time. The boat will leave on time!
