Beaver Island Marathon - The Beaver Island Boat Company discount has been extended to September 1. If you are registered by midnight, Sept 1, you will travel to the island for the reduced rate of $20 round trip. Don't wait until you get on the island to register.

Charlevoix Marathon - The staff at Good Boy Events want to thank each and everyone of you for making the 2010 Charlevoix Marathon such a successful event. A Big Thank You to the volunteers who worked so hard to encourage the athletes along the course. With out all of you, we would not be preparing for 2011.

Charlevoix Marathon - There will be an athlete's meeting Friday, June 25th 4PM at Bridge Park. All are encouraged to attend. Jeff and Ron Suffolk will be going over the course, talking about the rules and answering questions.
NEW FOR 2010!!! Good Boy Events will have a clothing tent selling men's, women's and children's apparel, hats, and visors. Shirts, short sleeve and long, really cool ladies sweatshirts, fun kids bibs, shirts and hats. Just to mention a few items. Great prices on race shirts. Check us out at the Green Tent.

Charlevoix Marathon - Looking for a place to stay for the Marathon? There are rooms in Harbor Spring. The Chamber of Commerce site has http://www.harborspringschamber.com has the hotels in their area listed on their website. We check the following two places. They have rooms as of today.

Charlevoix Marathon -
Interesting information about the race. Athletes are coming from around the world to run the Michigan Summer Marathon. There are athletes from 10 countries and 35 states. Registrations are still coming in. We might have every state represented by June 26th.
There are still some rooms available in Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Boyne. Don't wait to call for your reservation. Northern Michigan is a very popular spot to visit. Especially this year. The weather has been incredible. If you need help finding a room, call Ron (race director) at 248.446.1315.

Charlevoix Marathon
Once again this year we will have customized bibs. Cut off date for registrations that will received a personalized bib is June 10th. All athletes who register after that time will receive a customized bib without their name.
SHOWERS AFTER THE RACE! If you are interested in taking a shower after the race, we have confirmed the locations.
Two options for showering after the race:
i. Runners can go to the Marina (one block from Bridge Park) and take a shower for $2. You will need to bring your own towels or purchase one at the Marina (The have large beach towels for sale). The address is the Harbormaster building; 100 E Clinton
ii. The runners can also use the locker rooms at the Charlevoix Pool from 12-4PM at no charge. (Located on U.S. 31 North near the Charlevoix Country Club). You will need your own towel.

Charlevoix Marathon
We're in beautiful Charlevoix this week working on the final touches for the Marathon. As we drove into town, the entire city was busy planting the petunias along Bridge Street. What a spectacular site. We hope that you will remember as one of the most beautiful places you've ever seen.
The hotels in Charlevoix are filling up fast. If you can not find a place to stay, there are rooms available in Petoskey. Petoskey, MI is only 15 miles from Charlevoix. The drive is one of the most picturesque ones to take. Take in the sites of Lake Michigan while making the short trip.

Beaver Island Marathon
Due to the overwhelming success of the special boat pricing to Beaver Island the $20 round-trip-price-to-Beaver Island will continue! If you want to have your vehicle or camper on Beaver Island you must call the Beaver Island Boat Company and make a reservation. Their number is 231.547.2311. No need to call to reserve space for you or your travel companions, however.
Fresh Air Aviation has announced pricing for the Marathon participants. For those participating in the marathon and ½ marathon the current round trip airfare will be discounted by $15 and for each family member or friend that travels with them their round trip ticket will be discounted by $5. One way fares will be discounted by $7 and the family member or friend will receive $2 off.

Special Boat Transportation Pricing
Are you thinking of registering for the Beaver Island Marathon September 4? For those registering by May 17, 2010 Good Boy Events and the Beaver Island Boat Company are announcing special round-trip boat rates:
For those running the Beaver Island marathon and half marathon the round - trip boat transportation is a deeply discounted rate of $20. You must be registered by May 17, 2010 to obtain this special rate. Good Boy Events will list all runners registered and pass the names to the Beaver Island Boat Company. No need to call the Boat!
2010 Marathon and ½ Marathon Course Changes
The 2010 Marathon course is a 2 - loop route. The race starts and ends at the Public Beach and runs thru town, Gull Harbor Road along Lake Michigan, and out Donegal Bay Road. Runners will experience great views of Lake Michigan and forests while running on pavement, hard dirt, gravel, clay roads and looping back on a 2-track for about .3 of a mile. Marathon runners will see the same sights 2 times only as the loop is 13.1 miles. The new course will be certified in June.
Beaver Island Shirts and Medals
Good Boy Events will be awarding outstanding medals to the marathon and ½ marathon runners. Although the design is not completed totally we do know the medal will be 3” diameter and 5mm thick. This medal will be a medal you are very proud to display. The shirts this year will be Zorrel dri-fit!
3.5 Mile Harbor Run
Not up to the ½ or a marathon? The 3.5 mile harbor run includes Gull Harbor Road which is arguably the hi-lite of the Beaver Island Marathon!
After Your Race
Again this year Good Boy Events and the Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce have a great awards party planned including a couple of very cold beers for all participants after you take a dip in Lake Michigan!
